Microsoft is turning out to a versatile player in the IT industry, they make great software and also good hard ware. For the latter, Microsoft gives you a wide variety of keyboard and mice. We got three laptop mice in our labs for review and here we will be talking about Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 which costs $49 and you don’t need a USB receiver due to the built in Bluetooth technology which is almost ubiquitous in laptops today.

The Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 is three and half inches long but it is not thin like Kensington Ci75m. Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 is easy to hold and your hand will curve up nicely on to it. The height of the mouse is 1.5 inches at the part which is thickest. Microsoft calls this “ergonomist-approved.”

Microsoft gives you custom software for driver but the mouse works well without it too. We paired this up with out Bluetooth enabled laptop and it paired up quickly. Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 is powered by two AAA batteries which are included in the package. There is also an on/off button at the bottom for saving power when not in use.

There is a button on the side which most Web browsers use for going to the back page. This is a good desktop for small hands but in average sized paws like ours, it was a bit uncomfortable. We are not sure we would use this as our only pointing device. On the bright side, this is good for short term use. The curves have been improved and it feels a lot better than its predecessors. However, it is a bit rounded and short and this is not the most elegant design for mouse that we have ever seen.

Doesn’t need USB receiver, included thumb button, design is ambidextrous

Shape is squat and not comfortable for prolonged use

The design is a bit lumpy but if you do not mind that, we would recommend you this mouse.
